Our mahi What we do
- We offer support for our Pokeno Community with Powhiri, Karakia and Te Reo (Welcoming or Opening Ceremonies, Prayers, and Language)
- Our vision is to build a Marae in Pokeno for the whole Community. The Marae will provide educational, cultural, recreational and social activities in a safe, caring and positive environment for people in need. A Community Garden is high on the list for Te Haukainga.
- Ensuring Cultural sustainability through the sharing of Pōkeno history (pūrakau) and knowledge (mātauranga) for our Community.
- By organizing or participating in environmental projects designed to preserve and protect flora and fauna, preserve, protect and restore rivers, improve the rural environment of Pokeno to ensure we live in a clean and safe community for our tamariki mokopuna.
To advance the education of young people by providing leadership training programmes and workshops.
By helping to increase the public's understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Maori by providing classes on Maori Tikanga, Kawa & Te Reo.
By establishing, maintaining and operating an educational training centre that will provide instruction on Te Reo Maori learning the Maori Language Customs & Traditions. By advancing the education of students attending Pokeno Primary School by providing books, equipment and educational aid.
